IT Jobs in Trivandrum 2026: Technopark Salary Bands and the Skills That Close the Bengaluru Gap

IT jobs in Trivandrum sit almost entirely inside Technopark, which lists 540 companies and more than 84,000 employees on its own site. Freshers are advertised 3.5 to 6 LPA, mid-level engineers 8 to 16 LPA, and Azure data and cloud roles top the local range. Rent near Kazhakkoottam runs low enough that take-home often beats Bengaluru.

Key takeaways
  • One campus dominates. Technopark's own site puts the park at 540 companies and 84,000-plus people, so your job search here is really a search across four phases of one address.
  • The average hides the ceiling. Indeed's estimate for a software engineer in Technopark is about Rs 4.78 lakh a year, while Glassdoor lists Equifax near Rs 14.3 lakh and Baker Hughes near Rs 11.4 lakh for the same title in the same city.
  • Data and cloud carry the local premium. Glassdoor showed 186 data engineer openings in Thiruvananthapuram and foundit 158 AI roles, with UST and EY both advertising Azure data engineering specifically.
  • The state is actively buying GCCs. Kerala's GCC feasibility report, released at Technopark Phase I in July 2026, targets growth from 45 centres to 150 and 200,000 jobs by 2031.
  • Rent changes the maths. A 1BHK near Technopark is listed on OLX from roughly Rs 6,500 to Rs 15,000, so a 9 LPA Trivandrum offer can leave you more cash than 13 LPA in Bengaluru.
  • The gap is a skills gap, not a city gap. Pay compresses hardest for generic full-stack and support profiles, least for anyone who can own a lakehouse pipeline end to end.

You have four years at a Technopark services company, your appraisal landed at 7.2 percent, and three of your batchmates who moved to Bengaluru are now on packages you cannot match without leaving Kerala. That is the conversation happening in every Thejaswini canteen queue, and it has a real answer that is not simply "move". Trivandrum's pay distribution is unusually wide for a tier-two Indian IT city, and the top of it is reachable from inside the city if you pick the right stack.

Why Trivandrum Is a Different Kind of IT City in 2026

Most Indian tech cities grew outward from several competing clusters. Trivandrum grew from one: Technopark at Kazhakkoottam, now spread across four phases up the NH-66 corridor towards Pallippuram. Its own site states 540 companies and over 84,000 employees as of 2026, which makes it one of the largest single IT campuses in India by headcount.

That concentration cuts both ways. You get a shortlist of employers you can learn by name, a commute that rarely exceeds 40 minutes, and a referral network where two hops reach almost anyone. You also get fewer parallel offers to play against each other, which is why local counter-offers are weak and why so many engineers conclude the city is the problem.

IT companies in Thiruvananthapuram beyond Technopark

The non-campus employers are the ones most candidates forget. Technopark Phase IV, branded Technocity, sits roughly 6 km north of Kazhakkoottam and hosts the Digital University of Kerala alongside the under-construction Digital Science Park, a 13.93-acre project whose foundation was laid in April 2023 and which public filings expect to complete in 2026. K-Space Park, a space-technology industrial park, sits in the same envelope. Add ISRO's Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and LPSC Valiamala and you get local demand for embedded, simulation and high-assurance software that no other Kerala city has.

The policy push is recent. At the Kerala GCC Outlook 2026 conclave, held at Park Centre in Technopark Phase I on 21 July 2026, the state released a GCC feasibility report and a 100-day marketing mission targeting growth from 45 global capability centres to 150, and 200,000 jobs, by 2031. Technopark signed an MoU with Collabera at that event, Infoparks Kerala one with ANSR. Treat the 2031 figures as ambition rather than forecast, but the direction matters when you are deciding whether to sign a three-year plan here.

Which IT Jobs in Trivandrum Are Actually Being Advertised

Here is what the boards showed when we checked. Glassdoor's Technopark software engineer page listed 255 open roles and its software developer page 197. Across the city, Glassdoor showed 186 data engineer and 20 data scientist openings, while foundit listed 158 AI roles. Those counts overlap and include reposts, so read them as relative weight: generic engineering is the volume, data is the growth, pure data science is still thin.

Role family Rough local volume Employers we saw advertising Advertised band
Software engineer, full-stack Highest (255 and 197 Glassdoor listings for the two titles) Infosys, TCS, UST, QBurst, Speridian, Guidehouse Rs 3.5 to 12 LPA
Data engineer 186 Glassdoor openings in the city UST, EY GDS, Techversant, Times World Rs 5 to 18 LPA
AI and generative AI engineer 158 foundit listings across the city Quest Global, UST, Times World Rs 8 to 25 LPA
Cloud and DevOps Moderate, ~33 cloud support listings on Glassdoor Allianz Technology, Oracle, Guidehouse, Infoblox Rs 5 to 20 LPA
QA and test engineering Steady, strongest in travel and insurance products IBS Software, Tryzens, RM Education Solutions Rs 3 to 10 LPA

Listing counts read from Glassdoor, Indeed and foundit city pages on 5 October 2026. Bands are advertised market ranges, not guarantees.

Data engineer jobs in Trivandrum: the fastest-growing slice

Two postings tell the story better than the aggregate. UST advertised an Associate III Azure Data Engineer role in Thiruvananthapuram with a stated Rs 5L to 9L range, and EY's own careers site carried an Azure Data Engineer Senior opening in Trivandrum under its GDS Consulting AI and Data group. Both ask for the same spine: a cloud warehouse, orchestration, SQL that survives review, and increasingly a Fabric or Databricks story. Quest Global was advertising a Generative AI Engineer role at 6 to 8 years experience, which is a useful signal that local GenAI hiring is still mostly senior.

If you want the honest read: Azure is the safer bet than AWS in this city. Allianz Technology, EY GDS, UST and Oracle all pull the local market towards Microsoft and enterprise stacks, and the Microsoft Fabric data engineering path maps onto more Trivandrum postings than any AWS equivalent. That is not true in Bengaluru or Hyderabad. It is true here, and picking by national popularity instead of local demand is the most common planning mistake we see.

Software Engineer Salary in Trivandrum 2026: Pay Bands by Experience

Indeed's estimate for a software engineer in Technopark is about Rs 4,78,436 a year. Taken alone that number is misleading, because Glassdoor's top-paying list for the same title in the same location puts Equifax near Rs 14,28,500 and Baker Hughes near Rs 11,41,429. The spread between those figures, roughly three times, is the entire argument of this article: the city's median is low and its ceiling is not.

Experience Services company Product or GCC What moves you to the upper column
0 to 1 year Rs 2.4 to 4 LPA Rs 4 to 7 LPA One deployed project, SQL you can defend, written English that survives a client call
2 to 4 years Rs 4.5 to 8 LPA Rs 8 to 14 LPA Owning a pipeline or service in production, one cloud certification, incident experience
5 to 8 years Rs 9 to 15 LPA Rs 16 to 26 LPA Design authority, cost ownership, mentoring, a named platform you built
9 to 14 years Rs 16 to 24 LPA Rs 26 to 45 LPA Architecture across teams, vendor and stakeholder management, hiring

Bands assembled from Indeed and Glassdoor Thiruvananthapuram and Technopark pages plus advertised ranges in live postings, read 5 October 2026. Advertised ranges, not guarantees.

Notice that none of those jumps comes from an annual appraisal. Every one of them is a role change, internal or external. In a single-campus city the appraisal cycle is the weakest lever you have, because your employer knows how few alternatives sit within commuting distance.

Technopark Jobs by Phase: Where the Work Actually Sits

Knowing the buildings is not trivia; it tells you which recruiters to follow and which gate to walk through. Phase I, Kazhakkoottam is the oldest cluster, with Park Centre as its administrative heart and the venue for the July 2026 GCC conclave. Thejaswini and Nila are the names you will hear most often in interview directions.

Phase II holds Infosys's Trivandrum development centre, one of the largest single employers on campus.

Phase III, Kulathoor is where recent growth concentrated. The Ganga and Yamuna twin buildings deliver about a million square feet of LEED Gold certified SEZ space and host Allianz Services, QBurst Technologies, Speridian Technologies, Infoblox, Tryzens India and RM Education Solutions. The 13-storey Niagara building, part of Embassy Taurus TechZone's DownTown Trivandrum project, adds roughly 1.5 million square feet aimed at multinational tenants.

Phase IV, Technocity, Pallippuram is the future tense: Digital University of Kerala, K-Space Park and the Digital Science Park. If you are early in your career, watch this part of the map, because new campuses are where fresh headcount and new-stack roles land first.

Skills and Certifications Trivandrum Employers Ask For

Local job descriptions are more conservative than national ones: fewer exotic frameworks, more Azure, more SQL Server and Oracle, more insurance and travel domain language. That conservatism is an opportunity, because the credential list is short and predictable.

If you want Learn this first Certification that gets read here Where it shows up locally
Data engineering SQL, Python, Spark, a lakehouse DP-700 with DP-900 UST, EY GDS, Techversant postings
Analytics and BI Excel, SQL, data modelling PL-300 with Power BI Insurance and travel reporting teams
Cloud architecture Networking, identity, IaC AZ-305 and AZ-400 Allianz Technology, Oracle, GCC floors
DevOps on AWS Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform SAA-C03 and DOP-C02 Product companies and startups
AI and agents Python, RAG, evaluation, tracing RAG and agent engineering, AI-103 Quest Global, Times World, UST AI teams
Building on Claude API patterns, tool use, MCP CCDV-F GenAI pilots inside existing teams

Mapping based on skills named in live Trivandrum postings read on 5 October 2026. Full credential list in the certifications overview.

One honest caveat, because the certification industry will not give you this one. If you already have four or more years of hands-on cloud work and a team that trusts you, a second associate-level badge will not move your Trivandrum offer. What moves it is a system you can describe in architectural terms, with its cost, its failure modes and the decision you would change. Certifications are for crossing a filter, not for clearing a senior loop. Buy them when you are being screened out, not when you are being screened in.

Where a credential does earn its money is the switch itself. 360DT's Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer course runs the DP-700 pipeline, lakehouse and orchestration work live over 8 weeks, which is the exact gap most Trivandrum services engineers have when they first apply to an EY or UST data role.

Case Study: What IBS Software Proves About Staying in Trivandrum

IBS Software is the best local counter-argument to the idea that ambition requires relocation. It is a Trivandrum-origin company, headquartered on the Technopark campus, selling SaaS platforms to the aviation, travel and logistics industry worldwide: passenger management, cargo and loyalty systems running for airlines on several continents. The product is built here. The customers are not.

A product company with global customers pays for depth, not billable hours. The engineers who do well there understand a domain well enough to argue with a requirement. That career shape exists in Trivandrum, and QBurst and Speridian reward it too, versus the headcount-driven services model that compresses the median.

An illustrative path from services to a data role

Take an illustrative scenario, not a real person. A 2021 BTech graduate from a Thiruvananthapuram engineering college joins a Technopark services firm on 3.6 LPA writing .NET support tickets. By year three she is on 6.1 LPA and bored. She spends two quarters on SQL and Python properly, then builds a lakehouse that ingests a public Kerala open-data feed into Fabric with a medallion layout and a Power BI report on top, documenting the cost and the data-quality checks rather than the screenshots. At year four she interviews for an Associate III Azure Data Engineer opening of exactly the kind UST advertised and lands in the Rs 8 to 10 LPA zone. No relocation.

The part people skip is that documentation. Two candidates with the same pipeline are not equal if one can explain why the silver layer deduplicates on a composite key and the other cannot.

How to Break Into IT Jobs in Trivandrum Without a CS Degree

Kerala sends an unusual number of graduates into IT from non-CS branches and the local market tolerates it, provided you arrive with something built. Here is the 90-day version, assuming the 10 to 12 hours a week a working person actually has.

A 90-day plan for a Trivandrum job search

Each stage ends in something a recruiter can open, not something you can claim.

Wk 1-2

Pick one track and close the SQL gap

Choose data, cloud or AI and stop reading about the other two. Finish 40 real SQL exercises including window functions, then write up three with the query plan you checked.

Wk 3-4

Python that moves data, not notebooks that print

Write one script that pulls an API, validates the rows and loads them somewhere queryable. Put it on GitHub with a README that names the failure modes you handled.

Wk 5-7

Build the project that maps to local postings

A medallion lakehouse in Fabric, or an Azure landing zone with Terraform, or a RAG service with evals. One project, finished, with costs recorded.

Wk 8-9

Sit the exam that clears the filter

Book DP-900 or the associate-level paper for your track. Deliverable is a pass and a line at the top of the resume, not a certificate wall.

Wk 10-11

Work the campus network, not the apply button

List 25 target companies by Technopark phase. Find one person per company on LinkedIn, send a short note about the specific project you built. Attend one Technopark or Kerala Startup Mission meetup in person.

Wk 12-13

Interview, then fix the transcript

Take every interview offered, including ones you will fail. After each, write down the exact question you fumbled and close that gap within a week.

Plan built around the skills named in Trivandrum postings read on 5 October 2026.

If you want the live version of weeks 3 to 9 with someone checking your work, the Data Analyst course covering Excel, SQL, Python and Power BI is the gentler entry point and the Fabric track is the steeper one. A free webinar is a cheap way to test whether the weekend format fits your life before you pay for anything.

What Usually Goes Wrong Here

Four Trivandrum-specific traps

All four are avoidable, and all four cost people two to three years.

1

Waiting for the appraisal

In a single-campus city your employer knows your alternatives are limited, so the internal cycle will not deliver a step change. Every jump in the progression above came from a role change. Plan for the move, not the review.

Pay
2

Learning AWS because the internet says so

Allianz Technology, EY GDS, UST and Oracle pull this city towards Microsoft. AWS is not wasted, but if you are optimising for a Trivandrum offer inside 12 months, Azure and Fabric appear in more local postings.

Stack choice
3

Treating remote as a safe default

Remote roles pay national rates and compete nationally. Applying from Trivandrum puts you against Pune and Noida candidates with more product-company names on the resume. Build the local offer first, then use remote as the upgrade.

Remote
4

Stacking certificates instead of finishing one project

Three associate badges with no deployed artefact reads worse than one badge and one pipeline you can draw on a whiteboard. Hiring managers here interview the project, then use the certificate to justify the shortlist.

Cost of Living Versus Pay: Doing the Bengaluru Gap Maths

This is where Trivandrum wins and where most people never run the numbers. OLX listings for a 1BHK near Technopark and in Kazhakkoottam sit roughly between Rs 6,500 and Rs 15,000 a month, with city-centre one-bedroom averages reported around Rs 16,800. Comparison sites put Thiruvananthapuram roughly a third cheaper than Bangalore overall.

Run it on your own offer
  • Take-home, not CTC. Compare monthly in-hand after tax and PF, because CTC comparisons across cities are close to meaningless.
  • Housing plus commute as one line. A Technopark job with a 20-minute commute and Rs 10,000 rent is not the same as a 13 LPA Bengaluru job with Rs 28,000 rent and 90 minutes each way.
  • Price the career cost honestly. Bengaluru's real premium is not pay, it is the number of employers who can interview you next year. In Trivandrum you buy that optionality with skills instead of geography.
  • Do not count family housing as salary. Living at home in Thiruvananthapuram flatters the comparison and disappears the moment you move.

The gap is real but smaller than the headline numbers suggest, and much of what remains is a skills gap rather than a location gap. A Trivandrum engineer at the Rs 16 to 26 LPA GCC band is, in disposable-income terms, comfortably ahead of a Bengaluru peer on the same figure.

Frequently asked questions

Are IT jobs in Trivandrum worth taking compared to Bengaluru?

For disposable income, often yes. A 1BHK near Technopark lists from roughly Rs 6,500 to Rs 15,000 on OLX and comparison sites put Thiruvananthapuram around a third cheaper than Bangalore, so a 9 to 10 LPA offer here can leave more cash than 13 LPA there. What you give up is optionality: fewer employers can interview you next year.

What is the average software engineer salary in Trivandrum in 2026?

Indeed estimates about Rs 4,78,436 a year for a software engineer in Technopark, well below the ceiling. Glassdoor's top-paying list for the same title and location shows Equifax near Rs 14,28,500 and Baker Hughes near Rs 11,41,429. Read the average as the services median and the upper figures as the product and GCC band.

Which companies hire the most at Technopark?

The largest employers on campus include Infosys, TCS, UST, Oracle, Allianz Technology, EY's global shared services centre, Tata Elxsi and IBS Software. Phase III tenant lists add QBurst Technologies, Speridian Technologies, Infoblox, Tryzens India and RM Education Solutions, out of 540 companies in total.

How many data engineer jobs are open in Thiruvananthapuram right now?

Glassdoor's Thiruvananthapuram data engineer page showed 186 openings and foundit listed 158 AI roles when we checked on 5 October 2026. Those counts include reposts, so use them as relative demand. Named advertisers included UST, EY GDS, Techversant and Times World.

Should I learn Azure or AWS for a job in Trivandrum?

Azure, if your horizon is the next 12 months in this city. Allianz Technology, EY GDS, UST and Oracle tilt local postings towards Microsoft. AWS stays worth having for product companies and a later move, and the AWS Solutions Architect and DevOps path covers it when you get there.

Can a fresher from a non-CS branch get an IT job in Technopark?

Yes, and Kerala's market is used to it. Indeed carried Technopark intern listings with stipends roughly between Rs 8,400 and Rs 18,300 a month, and Guidehouse was advertising BTech fresher full-stack and DevOps roles at 0 to 2 years. What converts is one finished, documented project plus a foundations-level certification.

Is Technopark still growing, or has hiring flattened?

Physical expansion is continuing: Phase III added the Ganga and Yamuna twin buildings at about a million square feet and the Niagara tower at roughly 1.5 million, while Phase IV Technocity is building the Digital Science Park on a 13.93-acre site. Kerala's July 2026 GCC feasibility report set a target of 45 centres growing to 150 by 2031, which is ambition rather than forecast.

Do 360DT's live classes work with a Technopark schedule?

All courses run live online from India on Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 to 11:00 PM IST, which in Trivandrum is simply 8 to 11 PM local time, so nothing overlaps a weekday shift. 360 Digital Transformation has no campus or classroom in Thiruvananthapuram or any other city; every batch is online.

What I Would Do in Your Position

If you are already inside Technopark with two to five years of experience, I would stop treating relocation as the lever and start treating stack choice as the lever. Spend the next quarter becoming the person on your floor who can own an Azure or Fabric pipeline end to end, document one build properly, and then interview for the Azure data engineering roles UST and EY are actually advertising in this city. That path gets you to the Rs 10 to 17 LPA zone without leaving Kerala, and it leaves the Bengaluru option open rather than spending it.

If you are a fresher, the calculus is different: take the Technopark services offer even at 3.5 LPA, because the campus network is worth more in year one than two extra lakhs, and run the 90-day plan in parallel from day one. Either way, the concrete next step is the same, which is picking the track and putting a real build behind it. Start with the Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer course if data is the track, or the certifications overview if you are still choosing.
