Claude Certification Guide · 2026Free Claude Certification Prep: Every Resource Worth Using in 2026
Anthropic gives away considerably more Claude training than most people realise — including official exam preparation courses. This is a straight inventory of what is free, who can access it, what each thing is genuinely good for, and the one thing free material cannot do for you.
- Anthropic Academy is free and open to anyone with an email address. It issues certificates of completion, not certifications.
- Anthropic Partner Academy hosts official free exam-prep courses — but only for Claude Partner Network members.
- Anyone eligible to sit a Claude exam already has free official prep. Use it before you buy anything.
- The official exam guides are the single most underused free resource. Read your exam's blueprint before any course.
- "All real Claude certifications are free" is half right. The free things are courses; the certifications are paid and partner-gated.
- Free material teaches content well and judgement poorly — and these exams test judgement.
Search for Claude certification and you will quickly meet a confident claim: the real Claude certifications are free, and anyone selling one is running a scam. That is half right, and the half that is wrong causes people to prepare for the wrong thing. Let us untangle it, then get to the actual list.
Two different things, similar names
| Anthropic Academy | Claude Certification Program | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free | Paid per attempt |
| Open to | Anyone with an email address | Claude Partner Network organisations only |
| Format | Self-paced online courses | Proctored, identity-verified exam |
| You receive | Certificate of completion | Certification + Credly badge |
| It proves | You finished a course | You passed an assessment |
Both are genuinely from Anthropic. Neither is a scam. They simply answer different questions — one says "I studied this", the other says "I was tested on this and passed".
Nobody can sell you an official Claude certification. Anthropic issues the credential, through Pearson VUE, to eligible candidates only. Any site offering to award you a Claude certification is misrepresenting what it does. Prep courses — ours included — prepare you for an exam you still have to sit yourself.
Anthropic Academy — free, open, and the obvious starting point
Anthropic Academy sits at academy.claude.com (previously reached via anthropic.com/learn), hosted on Skilljar. It is free, self-paced, requires only an email address, and issues a certificate on completion.
The catalogue changes as Anthropic ships products, but it consistently spans two kinds of material:
- AI fundamentals — including AI Fluency: Framework & Foundations (14 lessons plus a quiz, around 4 hours) and AI Capabilities and Limitations (13 lessons plus a quiz, around 3.5 hours), plus short tutorials such as The 4 Properties of AI.
- Product tracks — Claude.ai, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, Claude Tag and the Claude Platform, covering the API and Model Context Protocol.
You will see the total course count quoted variously as 13 or 18 across third-party write-ups. Anthropic adds courses as it ships products, so any fixed number dates quickly — check the catalogue rather than trusting a count. Checked 25 August 2026.
What it is good for: genuinely strong on Claude products, the API, MCP and Claude Code. If you are new to Claude, this is the fastest legitimate route to competence, and the Claude 101 style introductory material is a reasonable first hour.
What it is not: it is not built to the certification blueprints and does not rehearse exam conditions. Finishing every Academy course would leave you well-informed and still unrehearsed for a closed-book scenario paper.
Anthropic Partner Academy — free official exam prep, if you can get in
This is the resource most people miss, and it is the best one.
Anthropic Partner Academy hosts official Claude Certification Exam Prep Courses for the Associate, Developer and Architect tracks. They are free to members of the Claude Partner Network.
Exam registration already requires Partner Network membership. So everyone who is eligible to sit a Claude exam is also eligible for free official preparation. If you can book the exam, you can access the official prep. Do that before you spend money anywhere — including with us.
If you cannot access Partner Academy, that is not a training problem; it is an eligibility problem. See who can actually sit these exams.
The official exam guides — the most underused free resource
Each credential has a published exam guide setting out the domains and their weightings. These are free, short, and more useful than any summary of them.
The blueprint tells you where the marks are, and the weightings are rarely what people assume. On CCAR-F, for instance, the largest domain is Agentic Architecture & Orchestration at 27%, ahead of Claude Code Configuration & Workflows and Prompt Engineering & Structured Output at 20% each, Tool Design & MCP Integration at 18%, and Context Management & Reliability at 15%. On CCAO-F, output evaluation carries more weight than prompting — which surprises nearly everyone.
Budget your study by blueprint, not by confidence. The domain you enjoy is rarely the domain with the most marks.
Domain weightings above are from Anthropic's published exam guides via Anthropic Partner Academy. Anthropic revises these — the CCAR-F guide moved from v0.2 (30 June 2026) to v1.0 (July 2026) — so read the current version for your exam rather than a third-party summary. Checked 25 August 2026.
Other free material worth your time
- Anthropic's documentation and cookbooks — for CCDV-F especially, the API reference, tool-use guidance and prompt-caching documentation are the primary source. Free, current, and what the exam is drawn from.
- The MCP specification and a weekend build — reading about Model Context Protocol teaches remarkably little. Standing up a small MCP server and connecting it to two different clients teaches a lot, and costs nothing. Our MCP tutorial walks through it.
- Free practice questions and mock exams — several independent sites publish free Claude mocks. Useful for rehearsing pace and question style. Treat scores as directional, since none are calibrated against the real scaled scoring.
- Practitioner write-ups — people who have sat these exams publish honest accounts of what surprised them. Search for recent ones; the program changed shape in July 2026, so anything older describes a different exam.
Exam dumps and "real exam questions". Sharing live exam content breaches Anthropic's candidate agreement and can invalidate a credential you paid for. They are also unreliable — scenario exams do not reduce to memorisable answer keys. We do not publish them and we do not link to them.
Where free material stops working
We sell paid training, so treat this section with appropriate suspicion — but the limitation is real and specific.
Free material is excellent at transferring content. These exams test judgement. You are handed a scenario with several defensible answers and one best one, and asked to choose under time pressure with no documentation. Reading about bounded loops does not rehearse deciding, in ninety seconds, whether this particular design needs one.
Three things free self-paced material structurally cannot provide:
- Someone to disagree with you. Architecture judgement improves by having a defensible answer challenged, which requires a person.
- Review of your actual work. A completion quiz cannot tell you your tool schema is ambiguous or your agent has no termination condition.
- Accountability. Most people who start a free self-paced course do not finish it. A cohort with a start date changes that.
Our honest recommendation: if your budget is zero and you are Partner Network eligible, use the free official Partner Academy courses, read your exam guide, and build something. That is a legitimate path to a pass. Paid live training earns its place when you want review, challenge and accountability — not because the free material is inadequate.
A free study plan that actually works
- Read your exam guide first. One hour. Note the weightings and budget your time against them.
- Take the official Partner Academy prep course for your exam, if you have access.
- Fill gaps with Anthropic Academy on whichever product surfaces you use least.
- Build one thing — an MCP server, an agent with a termination condition, a structured-output pipeline with validation.
- Sit a free mock under real conditions. Timed, closed book, no Claude open. The discomfort is the point.
- Re-read the blueprint and re-study only your weakest domains.
When free material runs out, this is what it does not give you
Free resources teach you the content. What they cannot give you is someone reviewing your architecture decisions and telling you where the reasoning breaks. The 360DT Claude Certified Architect Prep — Foundations course covers all five CCAR-F domains live and builds the official scenarios with you in class. Use Anthropic Academy first — genuinely — and come here for the part free material cannot do.

Frequently asked questions
Is Claude certification free?
The certifications are paid and partner-gated. The courses are free: Anthropic Academy is open to anyone with an email address and issues certificates of completion, and Anthropic Partner Academy provides free official exam-prep courses to Claude Partner Network members. So "free Claude certification" usually describes a free course, not a certification.
Are the free Anthropic courses worth doing?
Yes, genuinely. Anthropic Academy is strong on Claude products, the API, MCP and Claude Code, it is free, and it issues a completion certificate you can add to a profile. It is not built to the certification blueprints, so it is a foundation rather than exam preparation.
Is there free official prep for the Claude exams?
Yes. Anthropic Partner Academy hosts official Claude Certification Exam Prep Courses for the Associate, Developer and Architect tracks, free to Claude Partner Network members. Since exam registration already requires membership, anyone eligible to sit an exam can access free official preparation — use it before buying anything.
Where can I find free Claude mock exams?
Several independent sites publish free Claude practice questions and mock exams, and they are useful for rehearsing pace and question style. Treat the scores as directional rather than predictive, since none are calibrated against Anthropic's scaled scoring. Avoid anything marketed as real exam questions or dumps — using them breaches the candidate agreement and can invalidate your credential.
Can I pass without paying for training?
Yes. Read your exam guide, take the free official Partner Academy prep course, fill gaps with Anthropic Academy, build something real, and rehearse under closed-book conditions. Paid live training adds review, challenge and accountability — worth it for some people, not a requirement for passing.
Once you know what you are preparing for, see which of the four exams fits your role and what each attempt costs. If you decide you want live instruction and review, our cohorts are on the certification hub.
About this guide. 360 Digital Transformation is an independent training provider. We are not Anthropic, we do not issue Claude credentials, and our courses are exam preparation rather than official Anthropic training. We have deliberately recommended Anthropic's free resources ahead of our paid ones where they are the better choice. Checked 25 August 2026.
