Claude Certification Guide · 2026Claude Certification Cost in 2026: Every Fee, Including What It Means in India
The four Claude exams are reported at US$99 to US$175 per attempt — but Pearson VUE does not publish those prices publicly, partner members pay less, and the exam fee is not the whole cost. Here is the complete picture, with the gaps clearly marked rather than papered over.
- Reported fees: CCAO-F US$99 · CCDV-F US$125 · CCAR-F US$125 · CCAR-P US$175 per attempt.
- Pearson VUE does not publish these prices on its public program page. They are consistent across independent sources but should be confirmed in Partner Academy before you book.
- Tiered Claude Partner Network members get a discounted first attempt — so your actual price may be lower than the published figure.
- Partner Network membership itself is free at the Registered tier.
- Retakes are charged per attempt, with enforced waiting periods.
- Anthropic Academy is genuinely free and separate — if your budget is zero, that is the honest starting point.
Cost is the second thing people ask about Claude certification and the hardest to answer cleanly, because Anthropic has chosen not to publish pricing on the public Pearson VUE page. What follows separates what is documented from what is reported, so you can see which is which.
The exam fees
| Credential | Code | Reported fee per attempt |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Certified Associate: Foundations | CCAO-F | US$99 |
| Claude Certified Developer: Foundations | CCDV-F | US$125 |
| Claude Certified Architect: Foundations | CCAR-F | US$125 |
| Claude Certified Architect: Professional | CCAR-P | US$175 |
These figures are reported consistently across multiple independent sources as of July 2026, and the CCAR-F figure appears in Anthropic's exam guide v0.2 dated 30 June 2026. They are not printed on Pearson VUE's public Anthropic program page, which lists the four exams and the retake policy but no pricing. Because exam pricing can also vary by region and partner tier, treat the table above as a well-corroborated guide rather than a quotation, and confirm your own price in Anthropic Partner Academy at the point of booking.
If you see a site quoting these fees as flat fact with no caveat, it is repeating the same secondary sources we are — just without telling you.
The partner discount most people miss
The published figure is not necessarily what you pay. Anthropic states that tiered partners receive discounted rates on their first certification attempt, delivered through the Anthropic Partner Academy.
This matters more than it first appears, because you cannot sit these exams at all without being attached to a Claude Partner Network organisation. So the population who can book is the same population eligible for member pricing. Before budgeting at list price, check what your organisation's tier actually entitles you to.
What the exam fee does not cover
Four costs sit outside the headline number.
| Cost | Paid to | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Partner Network membership | Anthropic | Free at the Registered tier |
| Preparation training | Varies | Free (Partner Academy, Anthropic Academy) to paid third-party courses |
| Retake attempts | Pearson VUE | Charged per attempt |
| Renewal after 12 months | Anthropic / Pearson VUE | Free on-time renewal widely reported — confirm current terms |
Retakes deserve particular attention when you budget. Pearson VUE allows up to four attempts in any rolling 12-month period, with waits of 14 days after the first attempt, 30 after the second and 90 after the third. Each attempt is charged. Two failed attempts at CCAR-P would cost more than a single pass at CCAO-F and CCDV-F combined — which is the real argument for structured preparation rather than a second guess at the paper.
What this costs from India
This is where most cost guides go quiet, so let us be specific about what is knowable and what is not.
What we can say: the exams are priced in US dollars, booked through Pearson VUE, and sat either online via OnVUE or at a Pearson VUE test centre — of which India has many. The credential and its Credly badge are identical wherever you sit.
What we will not do is print a rupee figure as though it were fixed. Your actual charge depends on the exchange rate on the day, any card or foreign-transaction fees your bank applies, whether local tax is added at checkout, and your partner tier. A guide that tells you a Claude exam "costs ₹X" is quietly guessing at three of those four variables.
Take the USD figure for your exam, proceed to checkout in Pearson VUE via Anthropic Partner Academy, and read the total before confirming. That is the only number that is actually yours — it accounts for your partner tier, your region and any tax at once.
The more useful comparison for an Indian candidate is against the other certifications you might spend the same money on. At US$99–175, a Claude exam sits broadly in the same band as an associate-level cloud certification — meaningfully more than a beginner Microsoft fundamentals paper, and less than most professional-level cloud exams. The differentiator is not price; it is that there is currently no alternative vendor credential covering agentic Claude work.
Training cost: free, paid, and what each buys
Preparation cost varies more than exam cost, and the free options are genuinely good.
- Anthropic Partner Academy prep courses — free to members. If your organisation is in the Partner Network, official preparation courses for the certification exams are included. Anyone eligible to sit the exam already has access to these. Use them.
- Anthropic Academy — free to everyone. Self-paced courses on Claude, the API, MCP and Claude Code, open to anyone with an email address, issuing completion certificates. No Partner Network requirement.
- Third-party practice tests — typically low-cost. Useful for exam-rhythm rehearsal, weaker for teaching judgement.
- Live instructor-led cohorts — the paid tier. What you are buying is a person who answers your question, reviews your build, and challenges your architecture. That is the one thing self-paced material cannot provide.
We run live cohorts for all four credentials, and we will say plainly: if your budget is zero and you are Partner Network eligible, start with the free official Partner Academy courses. Paid live training earns its place when you want accountability, review and someone to argue with — not because the free material is bad.
So is Claude certification free or paid?
Both, and the confusion is understandable, because Anthropic runs two separate things under names that sound alike.
| Anthropic Academy | Claude Certification Program | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free | US$99–175 per attempt |
| Open to | Anyone with an email | Partner Network organisations only |
| Format | Self-paced courses | Proctored, identity-verified exam |
| You get | Certificate of completion | Certification + Credly badge |
Both are legitimately from Anthropic. If someone tells you "all real Claude certifications are free", they are describing the Academy. If someone offers to sell you an official Claude certification directly, they cannot — only Anthropic issues it, through Pearson VUE, to eligible candidates.
The cheapest exam, and what preparing for it costs
CCAO-F is the least expensive of the four exams at a reported US$99. Our prep cohort for it is ₹12,999 — the same price as our CCDV-F, CCAR-F and CCAR-P cohorts — and covers all seven domains live. Start with Anthropic’s free material; come to a live cohort when you want structure, review and a deadline you cannot quietly move.

Frequently asked questions
How much does the Claude certification cost?
Reported at US$99 for CCAO-F, US$125 for CCDV-F and CCAR-F, and US$175 for CCAR-P, per attempt. Pearson VUE does not publish pricing on its public program page, and tiered Claude Partner Network members receive a discounted first attempt, so confirm your own price in Anthropic Partner Academy before booking.
What does the Claude Certified Architect exam cost?
CCAR-F (Foundations) is reported at US$125 per attempt, a figure that appears in Anthropic's exam guide v0.2 dated 30 June 2026. CCAR-P (Professional) is reported at US$175, making it the most expensive of the four Claude exams. The legacy code CCA-F refers to the same Foundations exam as CCAR-F.
What does a Claude certification cost in India?
The exams are priced in US dollars and booked through Pearson VUE, so your rupee charge depends on the exchange rate on the day, your bank's foreign-transaction fees, any tax applied at checkout, and your organisation's partner tier. Rather than trust a fixed rupee figure, proceed to checkout via Anthropic Partner Academy and read the total before confirming.
Is Claude certification free?
The certification exams are paid. Anthropic Academy courses are free and open to anyone, but they issue certificates of completion rather than certifications. Joining the Claude Partner Network is also free at the Registered tier, and members get free official exam-preparation courses in Partner Academy.
Do I have to pay again if I fail?
Yes. Each attempt is charged. Pearson VUE permits up to four attempts in any rolling 12-month period, with waiting periods of 14 days after the first attempt, 30 after the second and 90 after the third. Budget for one attempt and prepare so you do not need a second.
Does it cost anything to renew?
Claude credentials are valid for 12 months, and a free on-time renewal is widely reported. Because that term is not published on Pearson VUE's public page, confirm the current renewal conditions before your credential lapses.
