Containerized AI Service on Two Platforms

Built For
AI-200 is the developer credential for the people who build and run the services behind AI products. Tap any card below to see why it fits you.
Azure developers holding or studying AZ-204
Tap to learn moreAZ-204 retires on 31 July 2026 and cannot be renewed after that. Roughly two thirds of what you know carries straight over. This program covers the rest, which is the vector and AI service work worth learning anyway.
Backend and full stack engineers moving into AI
Tap to learn moreYour systems instincts are most of the job. You add embeddings, vector stores, retrieval and the AI service surface, then wire them into containerized services that scale and stay observable.
Data and platform engineers who want the app layer
Tap to learn moreYou already own pipelines and storage. Here you learn how AI applications consume them: vector similarity search in Cosmos DB, pgvector and Redis, plus the messaging patterns that keep it all asynchronous.
Developers who want Microsoft and Anthropic credentials
Tap to learn moreEnterprises run on Azure and are adopting Claude fast. Holding a current credential on both sides is rare, defensible and exactly what hiring managers are screening for in 2026.
Curriculum
Eight modules taught live across 8 weekends. The four AI-200 domains carry unusually flat weighting, with none below 20 percent, so the schedule gives each of them real class time instead of front loading the easy material. Python is the working language throughout, exactly as the exam assumes.

Every scenario question on this exam starts with a business requirement and ends with a service choice. Module 1 builds the vocabulary and the working environment you will use for the next seven weekends.

This is the domain most candidates underestimate. It is pure implementation and it rewards hands on repetition.

The exam does not ask which database is best. It gives you a constraint and asks which one satisfies it, which is why we teach the trade offs rather than the feature lists.

Vector work is the part of AI-200 that did not exist in AZ-204, and it is the part hiring managers care about most.

AI-200 leans on back end services rather than model theory. This module covers the AI surface you are expected to integrate and operate.

AI calls are slow, rate limited and occasionally fail. The exam tests whether you know how to build around that reality.

The final domain is where scenario questions get decided, and it is also what separates a demo from a system somebody trusts in production.

The Anthropic side of the program. You rebuild part of your Azure work on Claude, which is the fastest way to understand where each platform actually wins.
Portfolio
Each project, drawn as the system you build: the real tools, and the data moving through them. Scroll; they animate.
One image, built with ACR Tasks, deployed two ways — Container Apps and AKS — so you can argue the trade-off from experience.
The same corpus in Cosmos DB, Postgres with pgvector and Managed Redis, measured on latency, recall and cost.
Hybrid search over a real document set, citations, freshness handling, and an eval that scores groundedness instead of assuming it.
Service Bus and Event Grid feeding Document Intelligence, with retries, dead-lettering, idempotent handlers and a human review queue.
Your capstone shipped on Azure AI Foundry and rebuilt on the Claude API, instrumented and cost-tracked on both sides.

Where This Takes You
AZ-204 was the most widely held Azure developer credential in the market and it disappears in July 2026. Everyone who held it needs a replacement, and the ones who move first set the rate.
Azure AI Cloud Developer 🔥 Replaces AZ-204
The direct successor role to Azure Developer Associate, rebuilt around AI workloads.
Build and operate the back end services behind AI products: containers, vector stores, event driven pipelines and the monitoring that keeps them honest.
AI Application Engineer ⚡ Fastest Growing
The engineer who turns a model into a product feature customers rely on.
Own retrieval quality, structured output, safety gates and cost per request across the full request path.
Platform Engineer for AI Workloads
Where container skills and AI infrastructure meet.
Run the Container Apps and AKS estate the AI teams deploy onto, with scaling, quotas, observability and cost governance as your remit.
Solutions Engineer, AI Products
Client facing, and paid accordingly.
Scope and build AI systems inside customer environments, which is exactly the ground our Forward Deployed Engineer program takes further.
Next credentials: AI-103 and AI-300
The rest of the 2026 Microsoft AI ladder.
AI-103 goes deeper on agents, AI-300 covers MLOps and GenAIOps. AI-200 is the broad base both of them build on.
Live, online, Saturday–Sunday · Limited seats · AZ-204 retires in July 2026, so certify on its successor first.

AI-200, Developing AI Cloud Solutions on Azure, earns the Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Cloud Developer Associate credential. It is the replacement for AZ-204, which Microsoft retires on 31 July 2026 along with its renewal assessments. Anyone holding AZ-204 needs a new credential, and AI-200 is it.
AI-103 goes deep on building AI apps and agents on Azure AI Foundry. AI-200 is broader and more back end: containers, data and vector stores, messaging, security and monitoring across the whole solution lifecycle. Choose AI-200 for platform range, AI-103 for agent depth. We run both programs, so we will help you pick.
Roughly two thirds. Containers, messaging, security and monitoring all remain, and the genuinely new material is the vector database and AI service work, which is the part worth learning regardless of the exam.
Python is the assumed language on this exam, so we teach the patterns you need in Module 1 and use them all the way through. Working experience in any language is enough to start.
A dedicated module preparing you for the official Anthropic Claude certification, covering the platform, the Claude API and Claude Code, with practice questions and a cross platform capstone. Exam registration is done with Anthropic separately, as are Microsoft exam vouchers.
Every session is recorded and you keep lifetime access, plus the option to re attend any future batch at no extra cost.
