Certification Landscape · 2026The Agentic AI Certification Landscape in 2026: Every Credential That Actually Exists
Agentic AI went from having no vendor credential at all to having several inside eighteen months. Anthropic, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle and Salesforce have all shipped one. They are not interchangeable, they are not equally rigorous, and one of them is free. Here is the honest comparison.
- Five vendors now certify agentic skills: Anthropic, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Oracle and Salesforce.
- Oracle's Agentic AI Foundations is free — the lowest-risk way to hold an agentic credential at all.
- Anthropic's Claude exams are the most model-specific and the only ones gated behind a partner network.
- Microsoft's are the most numerous, and the 2026 refresh retired AI-102 and AI-900 in favour of agent-centred exams.
- NVIDIA's NCP-AAI is the most infrastructure-flavoured and expects production agentic experience.
- Google Cloud and AWS have mature AI stacks but no dedicated agentic credential at the time of writing.
- Vendor-neutral agentic skill does not yet have a credential. Every option ties you to someone's platform.
Two years ago, if you built agents for a living, there was nothing to put on a CV that proved it. That has changed abruptly, and the result is a crowded, confusing field where credentials with similar names test very different things. This guide maps what exists as of August 2026.
The landscape at a glance
| Vendor | Credential | Angle | Open to all? | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Anthropic | Claude Certified Architect / Developer / Associate | Building and designing on Claude specifically | No — partner-gated | US$99–175* |
| Microsoft | AI-103, AI-200, AI-300, AB-100 and others | Agents on Azure, across developer and architect roles | Yes | Standard Microsoft exam pricing |
| NVIDIA | NCP-AAI (Certified Professional Agentic AI) | Agent frameworks, orchestration and infrastructure | Yes | Paid |
| Oracle | Agentic AI Foundations (2026) | Foundational agent concepts on Oracle's platform | Yes | Free |
| Salesforce | Agentic credential in its own ecosystem | Agents inside Salesforce | Yes | Paid |

Anthropic: the deepest, and the hardest to get into
Anthropic runs four Claude credentials — Associate, Developer, and Architect at Foundations and Professional levels. All are proctored through Pearson VUE, badged on Credly, scored at 720/1000, and valid for 12 months.
What is distinctive: these go deeper on agentic judgement than any other option. The Architect Foundations exam devotes 27% of its content to Agentic Architecture & Orchestration alone, with further weight on tool design, MCP integration and context management. Model Context Protocol in particular is barely examined anywhere else.
None of the four Claude exams are open to the general public. Registration requires a work email on a domain belonging to an organisation in the Claude Partner Network. If your employer is not a member, this entire vendor is unavailable to you regardless of skill. See who can actually sit these exams.
Take it if: you build on Claude, and you are eligible. It is the most rigorous agentic assessment available and the closest to what senior agent work actually involves.
Microsoft: the broadest, and the most disrupted
Microsoft rebuilt its AI certification line for 2026 around agents rather than bolting them on. Several new exams arrived — including AI-103 (Azure AI Apps and Agents Developer Associate), AI-200, AI-300 and AB-100 (Agentic AI Business Solutions Architect) — while a set of older certifications including AI-102 and AI-900 were retired during 2026.
AI-103 is the clearest signal of intent: it is scenario-driven with agent development as the core of building Azure AI solutions, extending into multimodal generation, visual understanding and RAG pipelines.
What is distinctive: breadth and accessibility. Anyone can book a Microsoft exam, the ecosystem is enormous, and hiring managers recognise the brand instantly.
Take it if: you work on Azure, or you want an agentic credential with no eligibility gate and broad recognition. If you were mid-preparation for AI-102, check its retirement status before continuing — a number of people were caught out by the 2026 refresh.
We run programmes for several of these: AI-103, AI-200 and AI-300.
NVIDIA: for people already running agents in production
The NVIDIA Certified Professional Agentic AI (NCP-AAI) validates building and managing autonomous AI systems using modern frameworks and infrastructure. NVIDIA suggests one to two years in AI/ML roles plus hands-on production agentic work, covering agent development, architecture, orchestration, multi-agent frameworks and tool and model integration.
What is distinctive: it leans towards the infrastructure and framework layer rather than a single vendor's model API. If your agents run on serious hardware and you care about orchestration at scale, this is the closest fit.
Take it if: you already ship production agentic systems. It is explicitly not an entry point.
Oracle: free, and therefore the easiest yes
Oracle's Agentic AI Foundations (2026) comes with a course covering how AI agents work and how to build them on Oracle's platform, and the certification carries zero cost.
What is distinctive: the price. A free, vendor-issued agentic credential is a genuinely low-risk way to establish baseline knowledge and have something to show for it.
Take it if: you are exploring agentic AI, you want a credential without spending anything, or you are blocked from the Anthropic exams and want to demonstrate momentum in the meantime. It will not carry the weight of a proctored professional exam, and it is foundational by design — but free is free.
What does not exist yet
Two gaps are worth knowing about, because plenty of content online implies otherwise.
- Google Cloud and AWS have no dedicated agentic credential at the time of writing, despite both having mature and widely-recognised AI certification stacks. If you see "AWS agentic AI certification" advertised, check carefully what is actually being sold.
- There is no credible vendor-neutral agentic certification. Every option above ties you to a platform. The skills transfer — orchestration, tool design, context management and evaluation are broadly portable — but the credential does not claim to be neutral, and you should not present it as such.
How to choose
| If you... | Take |
|---|---|
| Build on Claude and are partner-eligible | Anthropic CCDV-F or CCAR-F |
| Work on Azure | Microsoft AI-103 or AI-200 |
| Run production agents at scale | NVIDIA NCP-AAI |
| Want a credential today at zero cost | Oracle Agentic AI Foundations |
| Live inside Salesforce | Salesforce's agentic credential |
| Are blocked from Anthropic but want Claude skills | Learn the skills; certify elsewhere meanwhile |
One piece of advice that applies regardless of vendor: the credential is worth much less than the shipped system. Multi-agent experience in a real production codebase moves hiring conversations further than any badge. Certify to structure your learning and to clear HR filters, not in the belief that the badge is the achievement.
The Anthropic track, taught live
Of everything in this landscape, the Claude architect papers go deepest on agent design — and they are the hardest to prepare for alone, because so little independent material exists. The 360DT Claude Certified Architect Prep — Foundations course covers all five CCAR-F domains live and builds the official scenarios with you in class.

Frequently asked questions
Which agentic AI certification is best in 2026?
There is no single best one, because they test different platforms. Anthropic's Claude exams go deepest on agentic architecture and MCP but are partner-gated. Microsoft's are the broadest and openly available. NVIDIA's suits people already running production agents. Oracle's is free and foundational. Choose by the platform you actually work on.
Is there a free agentic AI certification?
Yes. Oracle's Agentic AI Foundations (2026) certification carries zero cost and comes with a preparation course. It is foundational rather than professional-level, but it is a genuine vendor-issued credential at no charge, which makes it the lowest-risk starting point in the field.
Is there an AI agent certification for Claude?
Yes — Anthropic's Claude Certified Architect and Developer credentials both examine agent building and orchestration heavily. Note they are not open to the public: registration requires a work email on a Claude Partner Network domain.
Does AWS or Google Cloud have an agentic AI certification?
Not a dedicated one at the time of writing, though both have mature AI certification stacks that appear frequently in job postings. Treat anything marketed as an official AWS or Google agentic AI certification with caution and verify it on the vendor's own site.
Did Microsoft retire AI-102?
AI-102 and AI-900 were among a group of Microsoft certifications retired during 2026, as part of a refresh that introduced agent-centred exams including AI-103, AI-200, AI-300 and AB-100. If you are mid-preparation for a Microsoft AI exam, check its current status on Microsoft Learn before continuing.
If Claude is your platform, start with the Claude certification path for 2026 or compare Developer against Architect. For the protocol that keeps appearing across these exams, see MCP explained for certification candidates. All our live cohorts are on the certification hub.
